Our company was founded in 1970 by Aldo Ferro, an Italian immigrant with a passion for fine footwear. Aldo learned the art of shoemaking from his father, a cobbler in Naples. When Aldo moved to America, he brought his Old World craftsmanship with him and opened a small shoe workshop in New York City.
Word of Aldo’s impeccably made shoes soon spread throughout the city. Savvy businessmen and fashionable New Yorkers flocked to his workshop to get their feet fitted in his elegant oxfords and loafers. Aldo’s traditional shoemaking techniques and use of premium leathers ensured each pair maintained its shape and luster even after years of wear.
As demand grew, Aldo expanded his operations. In 1975, he opened the first Ferro Aldo® shoe store and began producing Italian-made shoes under the Ferro Aldo® brand name. The handcrafted construction and attention to detail that made Aldo’s shoes special remained, even as production scaled up.

We still use time-honored shoemaking methods like Goodyear welting and hand-stitching to assemble our shoes. However, we’ve embraced modern technologies as well – 3D foot scanners provide precise sizing, laser cutters create intricate designs, and advanced sole compounds enhance comfort and durability.
